SOUTH JORDAN “SOUNDS OF THE SEASON 2011” GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Welcome to the seventh year of our Sounds of the Season Christmas choir program.
DO:
Try to make it to all the rehearsals. We have a lot of music to learn. We will start and end on
time and try to use your time productively. If there are changes to the rehearsal schedule in your folders
we will let you know as soon as we know.
Sign the roll every week. It is important for us to get an accurate count of how many people are
coming to rehearsal.
Make sure we have your correct email address and check your emails. We will be emailing all
important information and reminders. This is our main form of communication, and some information
may not be available any other way.
Bring your friends and family members. We are always looking for new singers. You are still
the best recruiters we have and we would encourage you to bring others who would love to be part of this
wonderful choir.
Mark your music with the pencils provided, and please keep them in your folder so you will
have them to use weekly. No pens please.
Let us know if you are willing to help us in any way. A special thank you to those of you who
have worked in the past and continue to help us this year.
Practice at home. The music, parts and accompaniment will be on the internet at
www.dennisland.com: click on “music,” then click on “Sounds of the Season.”
Remember our performance dress (it never changes):
Men: Dark Suits, long sleeve white shirts. Red ties will be provided.
Women: Long-sleeved black tops, long black skirts, black hose and shoes (high heels
not recommended since you will need to be able to move easily on and off the risers.)
Red scarves will be provided. You will need a sparkly silver pin for the scarves.
Buy a poinsettia or two. This is a great fund-raiser for our group, and they add so much to the
        visual part of our performance.

DON’T:
Lose your folder. Each participant will have an assigned choir folder with all music provided.
You will be told when and how folders may be checked out and when they may not be taken home.
Wear scents of any kind to our rehearsals or performances. There are many who are highly
allergic.
And…

If you would like to buy your own music you can order it at Day Murray Music, 4914 S. State in
Murray; 801-266-3537. When you call ask for Griffiths, he will have the program on the computer.
For the Website:

As your director I cannot tell you how wonderful you have been the last six years. We get better every
year. Let’s have fun, work hard and bring the true meaning of this wonderful Christmas Season to our
community, family and friends. Thanks to all who give so much to make this production a success.
